How do political events affect the plot of online games?
-
Guys, have you noticed that some games have started to reference real political events? For example, recently one game had a direct reference to the US elections. Why do you think developers are starting to insert such topics into games? Is it to attract attention, or are they really trying to somehow influence public opinion?

Yes, it is really noticeable. Politics, of course, has always been a part of games, but in the last couple of years it has become even more so. Developers apparently understand that players want to see something familiar, and politics is always relevant. I recently came across an article that talks about how political events in the US affect the themes and plots of online games. They gave some examples there. I have also noticed that politics is increasingly appearing in games. I think this is not only a way to attract players, but also to somehow influence their thinking. Of course, not always successfully, but if the game is well-designed, it can even become an important part of the plot.
